Mis Apologias

Hello everyone-
My apologies for not posting in this last week-plus.  A lot has happened since I got here, including the arrival of the chord that connects my camera to my computer, thus photos and a new entry. Here it is:

This is Gary.

On and off now for the past Fifteen years, Gary has adorned the the John Lennon Memorial in Central Park with flowers in the shape of multiple peace signs.   Along with this he also gives a brief speech about the memorial, the Dakota, John and Yoko etc...  Knowing none of this when I arrived, I thought the best place to put my own flowers would be next to a ukelele sitting at the side of the memorial.  "Hey bro" Gary said to me shortly after doing so "mind if I move those to the top?"  Not necessarily what I was expecting him to say but after spending a few minutes around him, it made sense.  I had with me a second batch of flowers, ones I said I'd put down for Chelsea's friend Jennie.  I offered them to Gary, he in turn used the two sets of flowers to form a cross at the top of the memorial, maybe not seen below but they're in there.

I thought that was pretty cool.

So it's late and that's all I can write tonight but I wanted to share that with you guys.

A lot more to come a lot sooner.

Arrival

Well the day has come and gone.  I have made it to NYC.  Was driven in by a native of Queens named Steve who, I must say, slayed the streets.  What could've been a 2 hour nightmare in traffic was a breezy 45 min scenic tour around Brooklyn on the Belt Parkway, into Manhattan via the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.  I was able to catch a glimpse of Lady Liberty and inadvirdantly driven right past the WTC site (something I was hoping to prepare myself a bit better for but oh well...a rough reminder of the new century, to say the very least).  Couldn't have a had a better ride in.  Arrived @ my sublet in the west village, lugged my crap upstairs to the second floor and summarily took a nap (red-eye +free whiskey gingers + a year or so worth of anticipation + ipod = not much sleep on de plane) .  Woke up, showered, hit the street.  Walked around the neighborhood for a few hours, found a purveyor of fine records on Carmine st, bought a stones 45 (waiting on a friend/T and A) and some milk, eggs etc..  You know, the necessities.

Now I'm back home and packing in an early night, probably the only one in the near future.  Tomorrow it's off to Strawberry fields to lay some flowers down for Mr. Lennon and then, who knows.  (Always open to suggestions by the way.)

P.S.- I do have a couple other photos from today but have misplaced the chord that connects my little camera to the computer, more are on the way though.

Miss everyone, thanks for sending me off proper!
